We derived the name Quro from the Latin word “cura” which means: 1. attention, care, healing 2. cure, treatment

Our aim is to continue to define this new name with our patients, our doctors and our healthcare partners – with our evolving innovation and passion for purpose to shape the next era of healthcare in Africa.

  • Vuyane Mhlomi

    Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

    Dr Vuyane Mhlomi studied medicine at the University of Cape Town, graduating with first class honours and distinctions in preclinical, clinical and final clinical examinations. He was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship where he completed his DPhil at the University of Oxford. As a health entrepreneur, Vuyane is passionate about the intersection of healthcare, science, and business and dedicated to providing quality, affordable healthcare to more South Africans through Quro.

  • Zikho Pali

    Co-Founder & Chief Operations Officer

    Zikho is an admitted attorney with half a decade of legal practice experience, which she attained in one of the largest law firms in South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (with distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Master of Laws (LLM) (with thesis honours) from Harvard Law School. Zikho has a strong history of leadership and has a keen interest in healthcare policy.

  • Joost Pielage

    Chief Technology Officer

    Joost is an experienced software engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering. He spent five years working in software testing and development internationally before relocating to South Africa and moving into a health technology role focusing on the digital interventions that can help expand access to healthcare in Africa.

  • Geoffrey Modise

    Chief Medical Officer

    Dr Geoffrey Modise is a qualified medical doctor who graduated from the University of Cape Town with distinction in the final clinical examinations. He subsequently completed an internship at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and community service at Kimberley Hospital Complex. In 2018, Geoffrey graduated with a Masters of Science in Health Economics and Health Policy (with distinction) at the University of Birmingham. Through merging clinical insight and theoretical and practical aspects of conducting healthcare economic evaluations, his particular interest is informing efficient use of healthcare resources.

  • Sicelo Masuku

    Chief Financial Officer

    Sicelo Masuku is CA(SA) and holds a Masters in Management Accounting. He completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at North West University, South Africa. He was awarded the JB Marks Education Trust Fund Merit Award in 2014. He is currently involved with career guidance at high schools across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region with JB Marks Education Trust Fund Alumni, where he serves as the Chairman of the Committee.
